  1. Yes, he was the richest man in Europe, because he had power from the Roman Carholic Church. He also had a lot of money because he will convince people to give money to him, to be able to go to heaven and not hell. World Studies Third Edition.

  3. Yes, the pope was the most richest man in Europe during Martin Luther's time. Some ways he earned his money is by selling indulgences, demanding money, or the people gave him money as a "good" work. As the pope grew wealthy, he became corrupt and arrogant. The people noticed this and started to lose faith in the Roman Church, especially after the black death. The people started humanism throughout Europe, especially when Joannes Gutenberg's movable type (printing press) was invented. This action resulted in Renaissance.

  4. Yes, he was the richest man during Luther's time. One reason why he became rich was because he sold indulgences. Indulgences according to the people were "free passes" to heaven, so that they wouldn't go to hell. As he gained more money he became selfish and corrupt. This was one reason why people became feeling
low, and started to lost faith in the Roman Church.

  5. Yes, the pope was the richest man in Europe during Martin Luther's time. Because the pope sold indulgences, people dedicate money to the church, and in the beginning, regular people can't read the Bible, they also can't become priest. So the pope would say God need them give money to the church, etc.
